Promoting elimination of gender segregation in the Pilsen Region

Activities for primary schools

TALKS WITH FEMALE PROFESSIONAL EXPERTS

Talks will be led by a coordinator for the respective district with the participation of a female professional expert, i.e. a woman who acquired technical education and is successful in her work. Such a successful female “professional expert” will serve for girls as an “example” and will help to overcome the stereotypical thinking about technical/ICT fields as the so-called “male-dominated fields”.

DEMONSTRATION DAYS OF TECHNICAL AND ICT FIELDS OF STUDY AT SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS OF THE PILSEN REGION

The goal of Demonstration Days is to make schoolgirls of 7th, 8th and 9th grades of primary school familiar with particular technical and ICT fields of study. An important part of such events is the opportunity to personally try a particular working procedure, to work with specific work tools and make their own product. Schoolgirls will obtain a better idea of the field on the basis of the professional guidance.

WORKSHOPS IN TECHMANIA SCIENCE CENTER

Workshops for schoolgirls will be led by a trained employee of the Techmania Science Center. Girls will learn to recognize connections and to develop and apply their professional skills and knowledge through experiments and interactive expositions.

EDUCATIONAL TRIPS TO COMPANIES

The aim of educational trips is to show girls “live” how technical and ICT sectors function in practice, which will increase their motivation for further education in this area.

The Academy of the Chamber of Commerce of the Pilsen Region, i.e. the project implementer, will provide:

  • transport of schoolgirls to the place of the event -  paid from the project,
  • refreshments - paid from the project,
  • work material and aids for demonstration days and workshops in Techmania - paid from the project,
  • all project administration and promotion of the project.
